So we’re excited to announce that the next release on our label will be Kalbata’s ‘Freetown’ and ‘Skanker’, two in-demand tracks that have been tearing up dancefloors for those that have received the early promo. The release drops on the 30th April and you can preview both below.
Kalbata, real name Arial Tagar, has a distinct musical approach that takes influence from early dancehall right through to 2-Step, Grime and Dubstep.
Singed to legendary Soul Jazz Records, Kalbata collaborated with MC’s Warrior Queen, Clapper Priest and 80’s Rub-A-Dub legends, Jah Thomas and Little John for his various 12″s on the label. For his most recent one, he travelled to Jamaica to record a totally analog dub record with live instruments on a 16 track tape machine in the spirit of King Tubby.

Kalbata recently took part in Greensleeves Dubstep, a remix album on Greensleeves Records with reinterpretations of the classic Greensleeves back catalog in modern bass music, with remixes by Mala, Horsepower prod. The Bug & more.
Kalbata is also the owner of Reggae Re-Issue label Spring Hill, committed to unearthing and re-releasing tough and obscure reggae tracks from the 70’s and 80’s.
